Most of the wetland around this natural area is owned and managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as wildlife habitat. Associated species include false nettle (Boehmeria cylindrica), marsh fern (Thelypteris palustris), spotted jewelweed (Impatiens capensis), and cut grass (Leersia oryzoides).
