Research shows that nature helps improve our well-being. Being in nature, interacting with nature, even just looking out the window at nature—all help reduce stress, provide relief for attention fatigue, promote a relaxation response, and enhance our overall mental and physical well-being.
Coloring also has been shown to relax and quiet the mind. The concentration involved with coloring helps free your mind from other thoughts, gently fostering a meditative state.
What happens when you combine nature with coloring? Magic! We collaborated with Cornell’s Alumni Affairs and Development team to create coloring pages of plants in our gardens. So pull out your colored pencils, crayons, or paint and make these beautiful blooms come to life. When you’re done—and more relaxed—pin the finished pages up so you can look at them and become even more restored.
