Salvia lyrata

Predominantly used by the Cherokee People of present-day southeastern U.S. as a medicinal plant, lyreleaf sage is native to the eastern and central United States. Cherokee usages of the plant include infusions for antidiarrheal and cold aids, as well as acting laxatives and sedatives. The Catawba Nation of the Piedmont area in present-day north and south Carolina and Virginia use the roots of the plant to create a dermatological salve.
