Pycnanthemum tenuifolium
This is one of several species of mountain mints used by Indigenous Peoples in its range of central and eastern North America. The Ojibwe People of the Great Lakes, create a decoction of leaves taken for chills and fever. The Lakota people of present-day north and south Dakota create a cough medicine. It is used as a stimulant by the Meskwaki Nation of present-day Iowa and Mississippi and the Coushatta People of present-day Louisiana. The Choctaw Nation of present-day Oklahoma infuse mashed leaves to treat headaches.
