Typically found between the Great Plains and eastern coast of North America, this is a commonly used plant among several Indigenous communities for a variety of medicinal purposes. The Cherokee People of the Southeastern U.S.traditionally use the roots for pain and respiratory relief, as well as an antidiarrheal. Alongside a fever aid, the Haudenosaunee People of New York State have even used the plant for love medicines.
