Echinacea purpurea

Native across present day eastern and central North America, the purple coneflower offers many medicinal uses. People of the Choctaw Nation have chewed on the root to produce saliva, which is swallowed to relieve coughing and aid indigestion. Root infusions of the plant have been used by the Lenape Nation to treat infections.
