Asclepias incarnata
With a broad native range throughout the US east and Midwest, and southern Canada, many Indigenous peoples have benefited from this plant for making cordage and a strengthening tonic. The Meskwaki people of the Mississippi River in Iowa have used the root for an infusion to remove tapeworm. The Haudenosaunee people of New York State have made a decoction of the plant to expel waste or induce vomiting.
