Native to southern Canada and most of the United States east of the Rockies, this plant has been used by a wide range of Indigenous peoples. Its pleasant fragrance and properties provide an abundance of benefits including treating coughs, colds, flu, respiratory issues, kidney pain, headaches, stomachaches, nosebleeds. The Omaha people of the Midwestern US have used the leaves as a perfume for hair oil.
