A Glacial Landscape

The kame-kettle hole-esker glacial features here are rarely found at so high an elevation in our region. Because many of the trees are more than 150 years old, the forest is considered old-growth. Equally noteworthy is the abundance and diversity of amphibians, uncommon nesting birds associated with the ponds, and unusual aquatic insects, including fairy shrimp.
