Description
Perennial reaching 1' to 4' in height, usually white-or gray-hairy. Leaves sessile or nearly so, oblong-elliptic, 2" to 3 5/8" long, serrate, pubescent above and generally gray- or white-villous beneath. Inflorescence usually branched, spicate, verticillasters many, usually congested; calyxnarrow-campanulate, hairy, corolla lilac or white; summer blooming. Extremely variable species and parent of many hybrids.
