Maiden Pink

Description

Loosely tufted or mat-forming, hariy perennial to 45cm, green or glaucous. Non-flowering shoots more or less prostrate with narrowly oblanceolate leaves; flowering shoots erect with 4-10 pairs of linear, acute leaves. Flowers solitary (rarely 2 or 3), terminal on main branches; calyx 1.2-1.8cm, hairy; epicalyx bracts 2 or 4, ovate-subovate, about half as long as calyx; petal limb 8mm, obovate, irregularly toothed, bearded, pale to deep pink with pale spots in dark 'eye'.
