Description
Dwarf tree, becoming arboreal with age; branches dense, whorled; bark smooth, becoming rough; shoots brown tinged orange becoming rust-brown, glabrous; winter buds ovoid, very resinous, blunt. Leaves glaucous, perpendicular to shoot, pectinately arranged, 10-18x2-3mm, stiff, convex above, base shield shaped, stomatal bands on both sides, blue-white. Male cones deep red. Female cones sessile 10-16x3.4cm, green bloomed pink or violet, ripening brown; scales triangular to cuneate, bracts included. Seeds obovate, to 11mm; wings to 15mm.
