Gardens near the Welcome Center

Bioswale Garden

Perennials, grasses, and trees here filter runoff from the parking lot before it flows into Beebe Lake.

Groundcover Collection

This garden demonstrates use of trees and shrubs to shade tender perennials.

Opened in 2011, this LEED gold certified building is home to our visitor services staff, art displays, interpretive exhibits, restrooms, and a multipurpose room.

Our policies have changed and we no longer rent out our spaces for events. Currently, we use the Nevin Welcome Center for Botanic Gardens-related events only.

Who was Brian C. Nevin?

The Nevin Welcome Center is named for Brian C. Nevin ’50, at the request of a gift from C. Sherwood “Woody” Southwick.
