Description

Plants reach 6" in height; flowers are an unusual light silvery blue, effective in April and May (DS 554). Discovered by Lady Scott (Valerie Finnis) in her British garden. It is not known if this was a self-sown seedling or had been purchased by her husbad Sir David Scott, hence it is listed under both M. armeniacum and M. neglectum. Lady Scott gave bulbs to Wayne Roderick who took them to his California garden where they were later seen by nurseryman Win de Goede, who brought bulbs to Holland, provided the name 'Valerie Finnis' and obtained breeder's rights to the cultivar in 1999 (Plants vol.7(4).
