Description
Cespitose perennial reaching 8" in height, glabrous; leaves oblanceolate, to 3/16" wide; epiclayx scales 2to 4, calyx to 3/4" long, bearded, red-purple speckled white, rarely all white (DS 3). Prostrate mats ofnarrow green leaves and huge, rounded flowers with wide, overlapping petals of rose-crimson on 2" to 3"stems (DS 147).
