Description
Coppery green leaves in the spring turn to dark green leaves for the rest of the year. Leaves are composed of 8-11 leaflets. Creamy white flowers.DS (705) Rhizomes spreading, branching and intertwining to form a woody mass. Leaves basal, arising from rhizomes, emerging felty, pinnately compound; leaflets to 25cm, leathery , once or twice irregularly serrate, apex acute, base obtuse. Inflorescence paniculate, flat topped; flowers numerous, sepals 5-6, fleshy, ovate, tips acute; petals usually absent; stamens 10; ovary partially inferior, 2-styled. Fruit a many-seeded dehiscent capsule. (DS 350 - for the species)
