Description
Compact deciduous shrub reaching 1m in height with glossy, somewhat angular stems; leaves rhombic-ovate, obtuse, spiny-cilliate, red when emerging, maturing to bright green with paler undersides; flowers yellow, held in umbellate racemes of 6 flowers, effective in spring; fruit globose, glossy dark red. Heronswood notes this species has excellent fall color.
