Description

Narrow, upright shrub or small tree with layered branches and tufted foliage, reaching 6' to 8' inheight in cold climates, but can reach 15' to 30' under favorable conditions. Foliage bright to medium (almost blue-green) in summer, brilliant yellow to orange and red in fall; often variable in quality of coloration. Flowers perfect, creamy yellow or light orange, veined with red, 1/3" to 1/2" long, borne in May and June, about the time the leaves are developing, in pendulous, umbel-like racemes from the terminal bud of the previous year's growth; corolla bell-shaped with 5 rounded lobes.
