Description

Limited branching evergreen shrub with upright, heavy stems, often stoloniferous in habit. Leavesreddish-bronze when unfurling, changing to light, glossy yellow-green and finally lustrous dark green insummer, becoming purplish-bronze in fall. Flowers perfect, bright yellow, lightly fragrant, borne infascicled, erect, terminal racemes in April. Fruit a true berry, blue-black, bloomy, 1/3" in diameter,effective August - September, but may persist into December. There seem to be two forms of this plant,one low, broad, dense and rounded in habit, and one taller with upright branches, irregular and open inhabit with lustrous foliage.
