Description

Small, stemless evergreen shrub forming clumps of erect leaves, drooping toward the tips, with a central band of creamy yellow. Bell-shaped creamy-white flowers in erect panicles 1.2m tall (DS 628). Plants 20' tall by 36" wide with brightest leaf color from fall to spring and topped in spring with 6' tall stalks of white bell-shaped flowers. (DS 653) The Flora of North America suggests that Yucca flaccida (what the RHS is using) should be a variety of Yuca filamentosa. Y. flaccida has thinner, narrower leaves and smaller, narrower flowers 4-5cm long, whereas Yucca filamentosa has thick, rigid leaves and flowers 5-7cm long. (DS 656) RHS plant dictionary puts this cultivar in Yucca flaccida.
