Description
A large to very large tree reaching 150' to 180' in its native habitats, with tiered branches sweepingdownwards. Young shoots greyish-brown, shining but shortly hairy. Winter buds reddish-brown. Leaves 2cm to 3cm long, shining green above, marked with two white stomatal bands beneath, densely arranged on the branchlets, pointing forwards and overlapping above, pectinate below. Cones oblong-ovoid to cylindrical, 15cm to 20cm long, greenish when young, scales long exerted and reflexed. Generally disease resistant. A species of great ornamental value.
