Description

Tall tree resembling Abies bornmuelleriana, intermediate between A. cephalonica and A. nordmanniana. Branches quite glabrous, distinctly yellow-brown, buds more or less resinous with brown scales. Needles very densely arranged, 15-25mm long, distinctly tapered toward the apex, acute to obtuse, seldom emarginate, often with stomatal lines on the upper side and 2 white stomatal lines beneath. Cones cylindrical-oblong, scales about 20mm long, 30mm wide, rounded above, the bract scales markedly exserted and reflexed with a wide 4-sided terminal blade. Seed ovate, to 10mm long, broad-winged.
