Description
To 10m. Shoots glabrous. Leaves to 14cm wide, suborbicular, 7-11-lobed, lobes ovate or lanceolate, acuminate, irregularly biserrate, bright green, silky white-haired beneath becoming glabrous except on veins, crimson in autumn. Corymbs terminal, appearing before leaves; peduncle long; sepals dark red-purple; petals rose-purple; disc extrastaminal, stamens 8; pedicels of male flowers completely dropped. Fruit becoming glabrous, wings held horizontally or at an obtuse angle; nutlet veined.
