Description

Small tree or shrub, to 6m; branches divaricate, initially grey stellate-tomentose, becoming glabrous. Leaves 5-16 X 4-7cm, ovate-lanceolate, rounded or cuneate at base, acute or acuminate, serrulate,glabrous above, grey stellate-pubescent beneath; petiole 1-2cm, downy. Flowers 2-6 per fascicle; calyxcupuliform, 4mm, exterior glabrous or tomentose; corolla white, 1-1.5 X 1-1.5cm, lobes shallow, semi-orbicular to broadly ovate; stamens 10-16, filaments villose; ovary 4-celled; pedicel 1-2cm. Fruit 4cm, oblong to obovoid-oblong, indehiscent, 4-winged; seeds 1-3. Spring.
