Description
Plants 50' to 80' in height with a variable spread; can attain 125' or more. When growing in the open, thetrunk is short and develops a heavily branched crown in youth; in old age the crown is somewhat symmetrically oval with the characteristic tufted foliage. Bark on young trees scaly, orange-red, eventually breaking up into large, flat, reddish-brown, superficially scaly plates that are irregularly diamond-shaped in outline.
