Description

A small tree with oblong to obovate-lanceolate, 8-13cm long leaves, the base truncate to subcordate, sinuately lobed to pinnatifid, the lobes 5-7 on each side, ovate to lanceolate, acute, soon becoming glabrous; acorns held in groups of 1-3, ovate, to 2cm long, the cupule scales thick, rough, gray-white, tomentose, enclosing about 1/3 of the acorn.
