Description

Large tree, straight trunked, wide crowned, bark rough, young shoots more or less pubescent; leaves elliptic-obovate or narrowly obovate, 8-12 cm long, acuminate, with 14-18 vein pairs, base very uneven, somewhat rough above, underside soft pubescent, occasionally only on the venation, petiole 4-6 mmlong; fruits elliptic, 2-2.5 cm long; seeds situated on the apical half; Belgium, 1694; very susceptible to dutch elm disease.
