About

I am the Student & Public Engagement Coordinator at Cornell Botanic Gardens, a post I have held since 2003. I have been actively involved in informal education, interpretation, program coordination, and volunteer management for over 30 years. In my current role I coordinate adult/community education and enrichment programs for both the Cornell community and the greater Ithaca area and surrounding region, and I am the staff mentor for our student Learning by Leading Garden Ambassadors team.

I am also responsible for administration of the Botanic Gardens’ volunteer program, and directly supervise and train our volunteer docents. I hold degrees in natural resources conservation and communications, and am a Certified Volunteer Administrator, an international certification program offered by the Council on Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA). Having grown up exploring the hills, woodlands and old fields of Upstate New York, I am passionate about natural history and interpreting the natural world to learners of all ages. I am also an experienced storyteller and musician, and enjoy using storytelling as an educational and interpretive tool.
