Welcome to Cornell!  During Orientation weekend, August 23, 2019,  and 24, 2019, Cornell Botanic Gardens is offering a variety of tours and events for incoming students and their families.See below for the full schedule and details.

You can also take a self-guided tour of the gardens or arboretum by calling a number found on signs throughout the gardens, or use your smart phone to tour by downloading the “PocketSights” app and follow a Google-driven map that provides images and information at points of interest along the route (available from the iTunes Store or Google Play).

Nevin Welcome Center Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Friday, August 23

Cornell Botanic Gardens “Open House” – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Nevin Welcome Center, Plantations Road

Come explore Cornell Botanic Gardens – the gardens, arboretum and natural areas of Cornell. Pick up a visitor map and explore on your own, chat with one of our wandering Garden Guides, browse the exhibits and Garden Gift Shop, or just relax and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the gardens. Receive a free gift with your purchase of $25 or more in the Garden Gift Shop all weekend!

Botanic Gardens Tours: 11 a.m. – 12 noon, and 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.   Nevin Welcome Center

Enjoy a relaxing guided tour through the botanic gardens and discover the beauty and diversity of our numerous themed plant collections. This one-hour tour will highlight the Tropical Container Display, Robison Herb Garden, Young Flower Garden, Groundcover Collection, and more.  

Explore Cornell’s Campus Gorges:  1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Meet in front of Cornell Martin Y Tang Welcome Center. Hikes leave every 30 minutes, on the hour and half hour; last hike leaves at 3:30.

Cornell’s campus is known for its natural beauty, so start your four years by exploring its spectacular gorges with fellow students and faculty. Join Cornell Botanic Gardens staff, graduate students and professors on a scenic walk into Fall Creek Gorge. Come to relax, meet new people, get some exercise, and learn how to safely enjoy your beautiful and unique campus gorges.
