In this program, designed for younger students, our gardens provide opportunities for students to use their sense of smell, taste, touch, sight, and hearing. A stop in our herb garden will enliven students’ sense of smell by matching scents to the herbal plants.  Tasting and describing vegetables, students get to sample food from our vegetable garden. Our winter garden, which is filled with many textures, is the perfect spot for students to try and determine, by touch, what plant part is in a mystery box. Searching for flowers with colors by matching color swatches given to each student is a fun activity in our flower garden. To enjoy the sense of hearing, students will have fun with plant-based instruments and the wonderful sounds they make.

Recommended grades: PreK – 1st grade
