Endowed by John Young Cornell Class of 1927 in memory of his wife Martha Howell Young, this garden was dedicated in June, 1981.
This lush flower garden celebrates significant relationships between people and plants by showcasing key cultural connections and symbolic meanings associated with well-known flowers, and how they are reflected in art, literature, and myth.
Interpretive booklets surveying the lore and symbolism of ten flowers rotate throughout the season—the tulip, peony, iris, rose, carnation, poppy, daisy, lily, sunflower, and chrysanthemum—are on display during each of these plants’ bloom time.
