Description

Similar to D. lotus; tree to 20m, rarely more; bark deeply fissured into plates; leaves to 12cm, eliptic to ovate or oblong, deeply glossy green above, paler beneath, glabrous except midrib beneath, turning red in autumn; petiole to 3cm or more; male and female flowers with corolla to 10mm, female flowers on pedicels 4-7mm, white with yellow lobes; fruit 2.5-4mm diameter, orange, sweet when very ripe.
