Description

Differs from the species in having the leaflets almost obtuse and pubescent beneath (DS 3). Description for the species: small, round-headed tree reaching 20' to 30' in height in cultivation, but canattain 45' in the wild, and is usually as wide as high. Bark rich, shiny brown, peeling with maturity anddeveloping a curly consistency. Flowers perfect, dull white, closely set on stiff, erect 4" to 6" long racemes, which are sometimes branched at the base, borne in June and July, scented like newly mown grass (DS 9).
