Description

Shrub reaching 1-2 m in height, but often reaching only 0.5 m in cultivation; branches coarsely and densely pubescent, leaves ovate-lanceolate, 10-25 cm long with appressed pubescence on either side; inflorescences to 15 cm wide, fertile flowers whitish, infertile margin flowers lilac-pink, inflorescencesglobose before opening, 2-3 cm thick, totally enveloped by 2-3 large, rounded bracts; blooming period July-September.
