A beautiful slow-growing, upright variant, forming a very irregular pyramid with rather stiff and rigid growth; branches thick, light brown, pubescent, somewhat sparse, but branchlets and leaves crowded. Leading shoots prominent, with erect, tightly appressed leaves. At 12 years a plant at Raraflora, Feasterville, PA was 27" high and 20" wide. This cultivar, selected by Mr. Clarence McKinley Lewis of Skylands, Sterlington, NY, was sent to Mr. Carl Starker of Aurora, OR, and was propagated by the Mitsch Nursery in Aurora, OR, who at first sent it out under the name 'Dwarf Upright'.
