Description
For the hybrid: Shrub to 3x3m. Branches dense, slender, somewhat arching. Leaves to 8cm, ovate, rounded or broad-cuneate at base, acuminate. Flowers in long, nodding axillary panicles, fragrant, lilac; corolla tube to 8mm, lobes obtuse or acute. Late spring. Garden origin, (NOT Chinese). Hybrid made c1777, France, Rouen Botanic Garden.
