Description

Annual climber to 3m; stems slender, glabrous. Leaves 1-9cm, elliptic to ovate in outline, deeply pinnatisect with 9-19 pairs of linear lobes; pseudostipulate. Infloresences 1-5 flowered on 1.5-14cm peduncles; pedicels 8-25mm, club-shaped; sepals 4-7mm, elliptic to oblong, apex blunt with a short subterminal mucro, fleshy; corolla 2-3cm, hypocrateriform, limb 1.8-2cm diameter, distinctly and stellately 5-lobed, scarlet, occasionally white; stigma 2-lobed; stamens exserted. Fruit 7-9mm, ovoid, mucronate (remains of style), 1-4 seeded.
