Description

Densely pyramidal to oval or rounded tree, branching to the ground, reaching 50' to 60' in height, 35' to 45'in width; can attain 100' in height. Foliage unfolds a shimmering green, gradually changing to lustrous dark green in the summer, and assuming rich russet and golden bronze colors in the fall. Bark smooth gray, usually darker than that of F. grandifolia, developing an elephant hide appearance on older trunks; extremely attractive.
