Description

Distinctly mushroom-shaped small tree reaching 20' to 30' in height, with intricate, low-slung branches that often grow parallel with the ground, but twist and turn in elegant fashion. Fall color is yellow and red, not always good. Flowers borne in 2" to 4" long, slender racemes. Samaras are 1" long, and diverge at an angle of 60 degrees or less; although fruit set may be abundant, the percentage of solid seed is low. Bark is gray, smooth and slightly dimpled.
