Description
Tree reaching 10 m in the wild, but generally a shrub in cultivation; young shoots finely pubescent. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, 4-6 cm long, sparsely finely serrate, appressed, pubescent beneath, fall color carmine. Flowers very small, 3-4 cm across, white, the petals outspread, filaments white, connate at the base, anthers violet, effective in July and August. Fruits ovate, beaked, 1 cm long.
