Description

The pale portions of the flaking bark are a striking silver-white rather than the typical creamy-white. See the Dawes Arboretum Newsletter for January 2002, pg.4: "The Royal Horticultural Society, acting as International Registration Authority for conifers, has officially certified the Dawes Arboretum's registration of 'Silver Ghost' lacebark pine. The original plant "was received as a seedling in 1949" and "distinguishes itself from others of like nature by its beautifully striking silver-white bark. This feature is reputed to exist on ancient trees in China, however we feel the Arboretum's plant is precocious and worthy of official registration as a cultivar."
