Description

Selected for abundant coral-pink (R.H.S. color chart Red 47 to Greyed Red 178 and 181) fruit that ripens in mid-August and remains ornamental to mid-winter, and dense, globose growth habit. The fruit is first pale pink in early season, then coral pink, and with the advance of winter it becomes much less intense in color. The dull green leaves, which are variable in size and shape, assume good yellow, orange, and red autumn coloration to accent the abundant fruit display. The spreading, bushy shrub has grown to a height of 6' and a width of 11' in 9 years. (DS 127). Rounded, mounded shrub, 6' tall and 10' wide in 14 years. Medium green leaves assume good yellow, orange, and red fall color, white flowers in 4-6" flat-topped cymes, prolific red fruits which after frost become coral and persist as coral pink. See Hortscience 10:430-431. 1957 (DS 9).
