Description
Small tree reaching 35'- 40' in height and width with creamy white panicles of flowers and exfoliating, cherry-like bark (DS 519). The original tree is located in the collections at the Morton Arboretum; it was grown from seed collected by Joseph Rock in 1926 in central Kansu Provice, People's Republic of China. It was selected for its upright, narrow form, cold and drought tolerance, and attractive cherry-like bark. The original tree is 40' tall with a spread of 25'. Has proven highly tolerant of deicing salts (DS 682).
