Description

Flowers Japanese with waved and cupped guard petals of dull, dark crimson, and a broad, flat center composed of white staminodes streaked rose-red, borne in midseason on tall stems. Flowers have raw,disagreeable odor; generally considered to be one of the best red peonies of its type. (Intro. from Japan,1893).
