Biocultural value

Sage leaf tea laced with honey and lemon is a classic remedy for sore throat. Similar to common sage, it can be used to season roasted meats, poultry, sausage and stuffings. It also pairs well with winter squash, bean dishes and rich cream sauces. Sage tea was once highly valued by the Chinese, who traded China tea for sage leaves.
