Description

Upright shrub, to 1m tall. Branchlets somewhat angled, puberulous when young. Leaves 3-7x1.25-3cm, ovate to ovate-oblong, apex acute or acuminate, base rounded to broad-cuneate, sharply biserrate, green and glabrous throughout, or initially minutely pubescent beneath; petioles to 5mm, glabrous. Flowers 8mm diameter, white, in short-pubescent, many flowered, compound, terminal corymbs to 6cm in diameter; calyx glabrous, sepals patent, deltoid, acute; petals sub-orbicular, stamens much exserted beyond petals. Follicles tomentulose, with patent style remnants. (DS 350) A small, compact shrub reaching 3' in height with prolific white flowers in June and spectacular burnt orange and yellow fall color.
