Description

Plant wide-spreading forming a low, diffuse mound to 15 cm tall in flower; stems woody, decumbent, often terminating in an inflorescence, flowering stems 3-13 mm long, holotrichous with rather long hairs below the inflorescence, becoming shorter and more prominent on opposite faces below; sterile shoots fine-textured, prostrate or decumbent; axillary leaf clusters sometimes present. Leaves subsessile, linear or linear-lanceolate, ofetn slightly curved, 10-15 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, subobtuse, glabrous; venation camptodromous, midvein prominent, lateral veins less distinct; margin flat, ciliate in lower one-third. Inflorescence capitate at first, later elongating, little more than 1 cm in diameter, bracts similar to leaves but a little wider, more often lanceolate. Calyx 3-4 mm long, often purplish, tube campanulate;upper teeth narrowly triangular, 0.5-1.0 mm long, ciliate; lower teeth subulate, ca. 2 mm long, ciliate. Corolla lilac, 5-6 mm long, tube scarcely exserted borne in June.
