Description

Plants prostrate, wide-spreading; leaves broadly ovate to nearly orbicular, 5-8 mm long, 3.0-4.5 mm wide, with scattered long hiars above, margin ciliate all around; corolla rose-purple, 5-6 mm long, flowershermaphroditic, borne late May to late June. Many authors have referred to `Hall's Woolly' as a morefloriferous clone of T. lanuginosus (or T. pseudolanuginosus), implying that the former was directly derived from the latter. In this author's opinion, `Hall's Woolly' is merely another fairly pubescent form of T. praecox subsp. arcticus. Unfortunately, the nomenclatural confusion associated with the name T. lanuginosus has resulted in the application of this name to pubescent forms of different species.
