Leaves contain compounds, including salicylic acid, that provide analgesic and anti-inflammatory actions. It has been used since ancient times as first-aid remedy. Yarrow has been used since ancient times to staunch bleeding wounds. As a fabric dye its leaves and flowers yield pale yellow to rich gold colors on wool, silk and cotton.

Description
An attractive gray-green foundation of airy, fine textured foliage furnishes russet-tinted buds, which are held in dense, flat flower heads. The earthy orange hued flowers eventually fade to soft yellow. Blooms July–September. 2-1/2' high x 2' wide.
