Description

Rhizomatous perennial reaching 6' in height; minutely setose; basal leaves spatulate-oblong, to 2' longincluding the long, winged petiole, early deciduous; stem leaves lanceolate, elliptic, or ovate-lanceolate,to 12" long including the petiole, uppermost leaves nearly sessile, linear; flower heads about 1 1/4" across in large corymbs, ray flowers blue-purple.
